UNDER EYE TRIO - NO CREASING!!

MAC Prep and Prime 24 Hour Extended Eye Base, Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
For me, concealer is both a blessing and a curse. Yes, it covers my dark circles and certainly makes me look wide awake, yet it always creases on me and settles into fine lines making me look 18 going on 80! It's really not a good look and choosing between looking young and tired or old and awake is a tough one for me. So, I've been on the hunt for products I can use in conjunction with my concealer to stop me from looking a creasy mess. First up I use the MAC Prep and Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base (£16) to prep my under eyes. As this product is intended to prime the lids to prevent creasing of eyeshadows, it works wonders in preventing the concealer and powder from creasing and moving during the day. I have quite dry under eyes and I have to say this product is great for me as it doesn't dry out my under eyes but rather smooths everything out. Next up is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (£17.50) which I just apply in thin layers under my eyes, then using either a damp make up sponge or my fingers to blend it in. This concealer is very lightweight yet provides a decent amount of coverage. Next up is a new addition to my stash, the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (£19.50), I take a small amount of this on a brush and gently pat the concealer into place. I find this product really is the star of the show as it helps to prevent creasing and just blurs any fine lines! As I mentioned, I have only just got my hands on this product so I'm not sure how it performs when flash photography is involved but I will do a full review very soon!

Have you got any favourite crease proof products?

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette Review & Swatches

L-R venus, foxy, walk of shame, naked 2, faint, crave
URBAN DECAY NAKED BASICS - Debenhams, £20
I know I'm a bit late to jump on the bandwagon with this one but when everyone was raving about it earlier on it the year, it just wasn't something I was interested in. A few months down the line and this was on the top of my lust list! There is a lot more hype surrounding the Naked 1 & 2 palettes, but for someone who isn't all that fond of using eyeshadows, I thought this would be a better option.

The Naked Basics Palette comes with 6 shades - 5 matte and 1 shimmer. All of them are pretty pigmented, although I do find Foxy has probably the least pigmentation out of all of them, as you may be able to see in the swatches above. All the shades are neutral and so wearable, which I really like as I know I will get so much use out of this palette! The shadows are so buttery and easy to blend, and actually very versatile. Venus & Foxy are both amazing inner corner/brow highlights, W.O.S is a perfect all over the lid colour, Naked 2 is good at a soft defined crease (or something??) along with Faint if you want to smoke it up a little, and Crave is the perfect liner!

The price of this palette, in my opinion, is very reasonable. I really wanted some MAC shadows but I'm so glad I got this palette and saved myself a couple of pennies (although satin taupe is still on my list)! I don't have many eye brushes so I definitely want to invest in some, I know the MAC 217 brush is a holy grail blending brush but I don't think I'll be splashin da cash on that just yet - so if you have any alternatives / dupes, please let me know!!

I haven't had time to put a proper look together using all the shades and take photos, but I'm thinking of doing a separate post showing some looks, maybe 'Three Looks w/ One Palette' or something, what do you think?

Hope you're having a good start to the week, surprisingly mine hasn't been too bad although I have history first period tomorrow so it could all change!

Oooh I also have a new Instagram, @oliviaroses_ so I'd love it if you could give that a follow!

Review: Maybelline Colour Tattoo On and On Bronze

maybelline colour tattoo in on & on bronze - boots £4.99

I know I'm a bit late to jump on the Maybelline Colour Tattoo bandwagon but they've never really appealed to me before now. After partaking in the #bbloggers chat about the best highstreet products I saw these come up a lot and so many bloggers raving about them, so I thought I'd try them out and although they've been reviewed to death, I thought I'd give my two cence. I picked up two shades in my recent haul post but I have only really been using On and On Bronze. It is a shimmery bronze-brown colour and is so pretty on it's own or with another shadow on top. A little bit goes a really long way with this product as it's so pigmented! For such a creamy product, the staying power is incredible (the swatch on my wrist didn't come off for ages and I ended up having to scrub it off ha!) and doesn't crease on the lids at all so it's great as an eyeshadow base. It's so easy to apply - you can use a brush or just your fingers,  I really like just patting it on with my finger and blending out the edges with a brush. It can be built up to get a darker outer corner/crease or just as a wash of colour on the lid.

For only £4.99 (and currently buy one get one half price at boots!) you can't really go wrong! I wish that Maybelline would bring out some more wearable shades, perhaps an ivory and a matte brown.

Do you have any Maybelline Colour Tattoos?

Review: Lord & Berry 20100 Lipstick Pencil

Lord & Berry 20100 Lipstick Pencil* - £8

Hello lovelies!

Today I have a review of the Lord & Berry 20100 Lipstick Pencil! I have seen so many of these types of lipstick/pencil/chubby stick/balm stain things all over the place, but this is the first one I've tried. And also the first product from Lord & Berry. Although I had heard of the brand (from hours of browsing the beauty section on ASOS) I had never tried anything from there, so I was a bit apprehensive about the quality, but I must say it's amazing! I really want to try some other products from Lord & Berry because it's relatively affordable and really good quality!

I have the 20100 Lipstick Pencil in Naturelle, which is a browny-nude natural lip colour! It is very much a your-lips-but-better colour, which is great for when you want something on your lips but you don't want to go all out with a bright colour! The application is amazing; it glides on smoothly and is so moisturising, almost like a balm! My lips tend to get quite dry so this is amazing for it! It lasts a while on the lips, although it can come off when eating/drinking, but it is easy to reapply and can be applied without a mirror, which is great for on the go touch ups!

Overall I love it! My sister likes it too - a bit too much though because she keeps using mine! The Lord & Berry 20100 Lipstick Pencil comes in a variety of shades: from nudes to a shocking red. There are also a few orangey shades which I really want to try!

Have you tried anything from Lord & Berry? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading!

Review: bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer

bareMinerals Prime Time Neutralising Foundation Primer* - £17

Hey guys!

I hope you're all having a good start to the week and not suffering too much from the Monday Morning Blues. I'm going to London with my school on Thursday and I'm quite excited (mainly for the coach journey though - I'm not so excited for the filling in of various worksheets, when I could be visiting Victoria's Secret!) but today has gone so painfully slow! Today I have a review on the bareMinerals Prime Time Neutralising Foundation Primer. What do bareMinerals say about this primer?

"Create a silky, smooth canvas for a flawless foundation application with Prime TimeTM Neutralizing Foundation Primer. With its color-correcting yellow base and light-reflective pigments, this innovative foundation primer immediately neutralizes the appearance of discoloration, uneven skin tone and redness for brighter, younger-looking skin. Our mineral-infused formula glides on seamlessly, combatting flaky dryness, rough patches and uneven skin texture.

I totally agree. This primer is supposed to neutralise skin tones with its yellow colour correcting base, which looks quite scary when you first see it, but when it is massaged into the skin it looks just like your skin - but better. Although the swatch of it blended in on my hand is the best example, it definitely gets rid of my redness and discolouration which I don't have too much of and I only wish that I had this product when I had eczema on my face! It completely smooths out my skin ready for foundation, and actually does completely glide over all of my dry patches! It also doesn't break me out which is good! You really don't need much of it either, the amount I have on my hand in the picture above is more than enough to cover my whole face, so you really get what you pay for!

It also makes my foundation last a good while, longer than without a primer! It has come in especially helpful with the weather warming up, it stops my make up from melting off my face, and I rarely need to touch up throughout the day! On no makeup makeup days I have been using this on it's own with concealer just to even out my skin tone and it gives a really nice, natural finish, perfect for summer!

Although it's not a problem for me, the downside that people could find with the Prime Time Foundation Primer is the smell. It's similar to the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation smell, although the Prime Time Primer isn't as strong and it's more pleasant, but I know some people aren't fond of that smell, or fragranced products in general, but it doesn't bother me at all and I actually quite like it because once you put it on it's not detectable on the skin at all!

Overall, I love this primer and although I have only tried one other (Gosh Velvet Touch Primer) the Prime Time Primer is pretty much holy grail!

Have you tried this primer? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed!

BangGood Wholesalers!

collar necklace - £2.50*
bracelet - £1.25*
 4 piece brush set - £13.14*

4 piece brush set*

silver circle texture tersely bracelet*

collar necklace*
Hello lovelies!

I hope you're all well and having a lovely start to the weekend! Today's post is going to be about a new discovery of mine - BangGood.com! Which is a wholesale website based in China. They sell pretty much everything, from electricals to clothes, so they cater for basically everyone! Naturally, I headed over to the beauty section and also the jewellery section!

The first thing I got were the 4 Piece Pure Goat Hair Brush Set, and I must say they are in close competition with my Real Techniques brushes! The bristles are so soft and they wash really nicely, and there hasn't been any shredding of the hair! I love that they have a white tip so you can see when they are clean or not! They are super dense, and I love the angled brush for my foundation at the moment, and it's also amazing at blending in concealer, although I do prefer to use the tapered pointy (?) brush for that! Even though I don't own the Sigma F80 I think that the flat top brush would be a great dupe because it is super dense and great for foundation! The brush set only retails for £13.14 which is amazing for four brushes (£3.29 each!) and I'd highly recommend! Especially if you are looking for some inexpensive brushes that are of good quality too!

The second thing I got was this gorgeous Silver Circle Texture Tersely Bracelet,   which is so simple but so cute too! I'm not a massive jewellery person but I love this bracelet because it isn't over the top or too in-your-face but it just adds a little bit extra to an outfit, and also goes with everything! This bracelet is only £1.25! But it doesn't feel like it's cheap at all - it's quite weighty which makes it feel a lot more expensive that it is! I love this bracelet so much, and I think I may get the gold one!

The last thing I got was this gorgeous Collar Necklace. I've seen a few of these floating around in New Look, Topshop and Asos but seeing as the one from BangGood is only £2.50 how could anyone pass that up?! Like I said, I'm not much of a jewellery fan but this is such a statement necklace and I think it will look lovely paired with a plain t-shirt to jazz up the outfit a bit! I can't wait to wear this Collar Necklace in summer and I think it will soon be making it into my summer fashion staples!

Despite BangGood being based in China, there is free shipping and also the products arrive quite quickly, it only took 2 weeks for mine to arrive which is very impressive seeing as I have ordered things for eBay which have been from China and it has taken over a month to arrive! I don't think I can rave about this website and it's products enough! I think my favourite product out of the things I have received would be the Brush Set! The brushes are just such good quality!

Have you tried anything from BangGood?

Thank you for reading, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Review // MUA Lipstick in Juicy

Hello Guys!

So today I am going to do a review of MUA's lipstick in shade 15 juicy. I have tried a couple of things from MUA before but I have been very skeptical about trying them because they're so cheap and I wonder if they are good quality or not. So far, the majority of things from MUA live up to my expectations, including this lipstick.

The packaging for the lipstick is quite nice and I like how you can see the colour through the bottom so when you're in a rush you can see exactly what colour you need! The lid also has a very satisfying click when it closes, which is also reassuring to know the lid won't come up in your bag!

As you can see, this lipstick is a gorgeous pinky peach coral colour which isn't something I would usually go for, but being only £1 you can't really go wrong! This the perfect colour for summer for those who want a colourful lip without being too out there! This lipstick lasts a good while but it can transfer onto clothes so you have to be wary about that! Also, you might be able to tell that in the picture it did cling to the dry patches on my lips so be sure to exfoliate and moisturise your lips well before wearing it!

I think MUA are a great brand for people, like me, who want to try out new lipsticks and colours without burning a great big hole in your pocket, and if you don't like it, or it doesn't suit you it doesn't really matter! I really want to try their brow kit and also their brushes that they have!

Have you tried anything from MUA? What are your thoughts?

review // topshop blush in head over heels

hey guys! so you may have seen in my recent haul that i had bought my first ever topshop make up product! i had a tough time deciding which product i was going to get because i had heard so many good things about pretty much anything, but for me it was between the lipsticks and the cream blushes, and also the 'glow' highlighter which i have been wanted for SO long but I already have benefit's high beam so I thought that I'd buy the topshop highlighter after I've used up all of the benefit one! so in the end i went for the cream blush in head over heels because I don't own many cream blushes and I think they look a bit more natural than the traditional powder blushes, and i also like the dewy look, especially in summer, and i think cream blushes make my skin look really dewy and glowy!

I took the picture and swatch when i first bought it as my other cream blushes have gotten pretty messy, and it's kind of embarrassing haha. i've been using this blush for a couple of weeks now and have been wearing it pretty much everyday! it's a gorgeous coral colour - perfect for spring/summer! It's almost a cream-to-powder finish but more creamy, if that makes sense? i know many people like to use the real techniques stippling brush with cream blushes, but unfortunately i don't have it (is this an excuse to buy it? i think so) so i just dot it on and blend it out with my fingers which gives a gorgeous glow and flush of colour! I dot in quite high up and not too close to the center of my face, so it gives it a bit of shape and structure, otherwise i look a tad like a clown, which I'm sure you all know is not a good look! When I first used this blush I used a bit too much but it blended in so easily which is really helpful when getting used to how much to use! I'm really surprised about how much I like this blush as i've never been a big blush gal but i love this one, and although being a cream product, it lasts pretty well on my combo skin, almost all day!

Overall, i love this blush and will definitely buying some more of Topshop's make up when I'm next there, anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed!

bourjois fan-tastic mascara review

Hello lovelies!

Today i have a review of the bourjois fan-tastic mascara! I bought this mascara a few weeks ago and i thought i'd share my thoughts on it with you all! I will apologise in advance about how photo heavy this post is - the wand of this mascara is so interesting though!

As you can see, this mascara doesn't have your typical mascara wand - it only has bristles on one side which is what i found so intriguing but it was also what made me quite skeptical about this mascara! it has a plastic wand, and unlike some other mascaras with plastic wands it doesn't scratch or irritate the eyes at all! I find that length and volume is quickly built up with this mascara but i find it can be a tad clumpy but for me it's not a problem as i kind of like that look, but if they go too clumpy a good separating mascara will sort it out in no time!

Whilst we've been having good weather for the last few weeks, my hayfever has really been playing up. I keep finding myself sneezing and my eyes watering, which could be why i sometimes find i get black beneath my eyes all the time!

Overall, i really like this mascara and it's interesting wand! I'm really loving bourjois altogether too - i'm so excited for when their cream blush and bronzing primer will be hittin' boots.

Are you a fan of this mascara? (pardon the pun)

lush mask of magnaminty review!

hey guys!

it is finally friday! i have had such a long week preparing for my spanish oral which was today but i think it went pretty well, so hopefully the hard work payed off! and also, if you follow me on twitter you might  now that due to changing my url last week my posts haven't been showing up on my dashboard which is very annoying but fingers crossed i think it's fixed! If you didn't see my last post it was my eyebrow routine! anyway, today i thought i'd do a review on lush's mask of magnaminty!

What do Lush say?
"This is one of our ultimate products and is intended for what Adrian Mole (Age 13 3/4) describes as Big Boy spots. Spots that take two days to come up but five days to bugger off.  And always when you have a date or something important coming up. Mask of Magnaminty does everything it can to fight these types of outbreaks and return the skin to tip top condition."
Mask of Magnaminty is a thick green mask that hardens and sets after you put it on your face. When you wash it off you can also rub it into your skin to exfoliate, which is great if you're like me and love 2-in-1 products! I use it 2 or 3 times a week and sometimes dotted it on those really bad, bruise-like spots for a bit of extra treatment! The mintyness (new word?!) of it makes your skin feel so refreshed and cleansed and not as "sluggish" (to quote lush). It's not at all drying and definitely makes my skin feel decongested, although I am not too sure about it preventing breakouts, not with my skin anyway, however i do find that it did help make my skin feel so much smoother and looked a lot clearer!.

Despite making you look a bit like the Hulk, I really like this face mask and shall definitely be repurchasing when i run out! I might also pick up cosmetic warrior as i have heard some good things about it!

Have you tried any Lush face masks? Which ones would you recommend?

Thanks for reading hope you enjoyed!

Product Of The Week

Hey guys!

Hope you all had a great easter! I did, but may have indulged a bit too much.. haha. As you all know, the UK have been having a bit of a wintery spring with blizzards one minute then sun the next! The weather's been looking up during the past few days in Manchester with gorgeous blue skies, a sight we don't get to see often! To go with this gorgeous spring weather, i have been loving peachy coloured blushes! My favourite being the rimmel lasting finish mono blush in pink rose. Which looks like this..

This is my product of the week because..
As you can see, this blush is a gorgeous peach with some golden shimmer running through it! this retails at £3.99 which is an absolute bargain as it is so pigmented and translates beautifully to the skin, leaving you with a fresh and healthy glow. It lasts really well on my skin, however i find that if i try and blend it too much it can go a bit patchy. And although you only get 4 grams of product it lasts really well as a little product goes a long way! It is really small, which means it's great for traveling or chucking in your handbag.. although i have lost mine a couple of times it's that small!

Overall, this is a gorgeous colour, the quality is amazing and i shall definitely be repurchasing.

What has been your go to product this week?

Thank you for reading, see you in my next post!

rimmel scandal eyes eyeliner in nude

hey bloggers!

so today i have a little review for you! now most of you probably own or have at least heard of the rimmel scandal eyes eyeliners because they are amazing i own the black one too and i can honestly say it is my favourite pencil eyeliner i have ever used! anyway, this is the nude one and i haven't seen many highstreet brands come out with a nude eyeliner recently and never seem to really see any whenever i go into my local boots! there are some white ones floating around but i sometimes find them a bit too harsh for what i like to use nude liners for! so.. let's get on with the review (it may be a tad picture heavy)

this eyeliner retails at £3.99 from boots and is in the shade nude. it is really creamy and glides on sooo smoothly! i like to use this in my waterline to brighten up my eye and neutralise and redness, and it actually lasts really well on the waterline, unlike some eyeliners that slip off after about 2 minutes. i think this works better than a white eye pencil because white can look a little harsh and almost make the whites of your eyes look not as white as they should (if that made any sense). oooh another thing i like is that the pencil bit isn't wood it is like plastic or something (not too sure) so if you catch your eye with it, it doesn't scratch it or anything!

the thing i dislike about this product is that it is a bit too dark for my skin! i don't know if you can tell by the swatch, but it is a bit too orangey because i am so pale! and sometimes if i apply a bit too much and it kind of goes onto my skin in the inner corner it can look really weird and obvious! that is the only downside, and i'm sure if you have darker skin than me this would look great on you!

i shall definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out! and i am also looking into getting some more colours (i'm talking to you taupe!)

have you tried this liner? what are your thoughts?

thanks for reading and see you in my next post!

soap&glory mist you madly review

hey my lovelies!

hope you're all well and have had a jolly weekend! i have had so much school work to do, i have my spanish oral exam in april and i am so nervous! i'm having to do it a year early because i am 'gifted and talented' apparently. anyway, today i thought i'd do a review on soap & glory's mist you madly body spray which is available at boots for £3.50 for the travel size, which is the one that i got, or it is £6.50 for full size.

what do boots say?
"Soap & Glory Mist You Madly™ Body Spray 250ml is a flirty, floral, fragrant body spray featuring notes of bergamot and blackcurrant, magnolia, freesia, vanilla and musk.
i must say i'm not an expert on perfumes and i'm not entirely sure what 'bergamot' (according to google it is a citrus fruit the size of an orange) and i'm not the best at detecting the notes in fragrances either.. so fancy words aside, and to put it bluntly, it smells delicious. i want to spray it all over myself. i would happily bathe in this. i spray it everyday and is a lovely everyday scent. i find it great to use after doing sport at school when you just want to freshen up a bit! it's just a gorgeous scent! i got the travel size because i hadn't tried it before and didn't want to get the full size of something i wouldn't like.. but the size of this is just great for slinging in your handbag/schoolbag! This might just be me, but i think that this smells like it's fizzy, if that makes sense haha.. if anyone else has tried this and thinks the same then please tell me in the comments to reassure me that i'm not going mad! (even though i probably am!)

So, overall i love this body spray and shall definitely be repurchasing when it runs out!

Thank you for reading! Have you tried this? What are your thoughts?
