So today I am going to do a review of MUA's lipstick in shade 15 juicy. I have tried a couple of things from MUA before but I have been very skeptical about trying them because they're so cheap and I wonder if they are good quality or not. So far, the majority of things from MUA live up to my expectations, including this lipstick.
The packaging for the lipstick is quite nice and I like how you can see the colour through the bottom so when you're in a rush you can see exactly what colour you need! The lid also has a very satisfying click when it closes, which is also reassuring to know the lid won't come up in your bag!
As you can see, this lipstick is a gorgeous pinky peach coral colour which isn't something I would usually go for, but being only £1 you can't really go wrong! This the perfect colour for summer for those who want a colourful lip without being too out there! This lipstick lasts a good while but it can transfer onto clothes so you have to be wary about that! Also, you might be able to tell that in the picture it did cling to the dry patches on my lips so be sure to exfoliate and moisturise your lips well before wearing it!
I think MUA are a great brand for people, like me, who want to try out new lipsticks and colours without burning a great big hole in your pocket, and if you don't like it, or it doesn't suit you it doesn't really matter! I really want to try their brow kit and also their brushes that they have!
Have you tried anything from MUA? What are your thoughts?
As you may be able to tell, I am not the most creative nor the most precise person when it comes to nails, but after discovering islay's blog, I wanted to venture out into the world of nail art. And I'm there, just on the outskirts mind, with polka dots. Yes I know it is probably one of the easiest thing to do with your nails, and mine don't look too great, but for a beginner I don't think it's half bad. For the whole of my nail i used barry m's gelly hi shine nail paint in prickly pear which I love and wear it on it's on all the time! and then for the polka dots I just used a while nail polish from an unbranded manicure set that I had lying about! It didn't take up that much time, about the same as painting your nails normally but I think it looks so cool and quite impressive. I'm thinking of buying more nail art sets and nail polishes so I can do more types of designs and pretty patterns, what do you guys think?
Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed!
I would love to see any nail art you have been doing!
I hope you're enjoying the bank holiday, I know I am! Today's post is a face of the day. I haven't done many of these and I can't even remember when the last one was, so it's about time I do another one! I don't know about you, but I love face of the day type posts- I love seeing what make up people are using (or am I just a bit nosey?) Anyway, let's get on with the post, because the sun is finally shining and the skies are blue, I've decided to change round a few bits and pieces in my make up routine to look a bit more natural and fresh faced in the sun! I have also been experimenting with my hair a bit more because I want to try out some more styles, although in the picture my hair is just sort of straight (I straightened it a couple of days ago so it isn't as straight as it was) with this gorgeous head band in! I can't remember where I got this headband from but there is a similar version here. I know primark are doing the Lana Del Rey type which I am dying to get! I usually don't do much with my hair and it's usually wavy and frizzy so I like these types of headbands to give my hair a bit of something different!
Although a rarity, when it's hot and sunny where I live, I like to go foundation free and just wear concealer, which was a complete NO before I found the collection lasting perfection concealer! There is so much buzz surrounding it on the blogosphere, and I for one have also been hyping it up since I got it last autumn. I put it mainly in the center of my face and then blend it out, and then put a little extra on blemishes. I find this is such a good colour match for my skin, better than any foundation I've tried, and covers so well! For my eyebrows, I didn't want to go too heavy so I used the powder in my ELF eyebrow kit in ash blonde (a supposed dupe for omega by mac) and just lightly filled in my brows. I then used the bourjois fan-tastic mascara (review here) for a bit of definition for my poor blonde eyelashes. Then my rimmel stay matte powder which is AMAZING. It's amazing for summer especially because it prevents my skin from becoming shiny all day! Then to finish, my sleek contour kit to add a bit of shape and warmth to my face, which i lack terribly.
Thank you for reading! Hope you enjoyed!

ps. I changed my blog header the other day, what are your thoughts on it?
Today's post is something a little different and more of a lifestyle post. So if you follow me on twitter, read my blog or follow me on tumblr, you will most probably know that I went to see Lana Del Rey in concert on Thursday. It was AMAZING. If you have been following for a long time you may remember the post when I bought the tickets and was so excited to go! I went with my sister, Sophie, because she also loves Lana Del Rey SO much. And although some of my friends like her too, I don't think they like her as much as I do! I got the tickets way back in November, and I was counting down the days until 23 May 2013.Because we went on a Thursday I was at school, so we couldn't go there really early and camp out etc etc, which I actually would have liked to do! Instead we went pretty much straight after I got home and only had about 30mins to do my make up and hair! Luckily, I managed it and then we set off!
We got the metolink to Manchester Picadilly Train Station and then walked to the O2 Apollo from there. We thought the queue was huge when we first got there, but in all honesty it wasn't that long. We got there about an hour and a half before the doors opened, and we weren't too far from the front of the queue. Also, because it was at the O2 we were in the O2 priority queue because my sister has an O2 phone (how many times have I just said O2?!) so we got let in a few minutes before!
When we were eventually let in we ran down to the stall bit, because we had standing tickets, and then waited and waited for what felt like forever (about an hour!) for the support act. It was mean to be Kassidy, but Barrie (Lana's boyfriend) was having dental surgery so Sam Bradley filled in for them. I had never heard any of his music before, and I don't think many other people had, but it was still enjoyable. After he had played a couple of songs, we had to wait around 30 minutes for Lana, and oh boy was it worth the wait!!
Lana opened with Cola and it was amazing! I can't describe how good she was, when she first came on I started crying haha! And my legs were shaking (probably due to standing on my tip toes trying to see over everyone's head!) It feels as though it went so quickly when she was singing, and I keep remembering random things about it! I made some friends there too, it's amazing how easy it is to talk to people who have the same music tastes and interests as you! Although there were only a few people in front of me, I didn't manage to touch her/ get a picture with her :( but I did take a couple of videos, including her singing National Anthem! I took a few pictures too, but because I didn't take my camera (due to fear of losing it!) I had to take all videos/pictures on my blackberry, so they aren't the most amazing quality, but I will insert some here! and also the video that I took! Unfortunately I didn't manage to take pictures of my whole outfit but I was wearing my black topshop joni jeans, a newlook white top, black chelsea boots and a leather jacket!
sophie & i
getting a bit excited
LANA!! look at those thighs!
such good quality..not
I swear she looked at me..
Please excuse my singing/shouting/howling I was very excited and also sad because National Anthem was the last song! Also, I know that it wasn't the best filming, I wasn't actually looking at what I was filming I was just holding my phone in the air and I was watching here! If Lana does comes to Manchester again, I am definitely going and I WILL get a picture with her! I still can't get over the fact that we were breathing the same air oh my gosh!
I am sorry for the blurry pictures and the not the best video!
So today I am going to start a new series of posts called 'Tuesday's Tip'. I know quite a few people do 'Tutorial Tuesday' but I thought I'd try something different instead! So today's Tuesday Tip is about, as you may have guessed, eyebrows. Eyebrows, eyebrows, eyebrows. I am currently at war with my eyebrows because they have almost no shape and are sparse and are basically just bleugh (very technical describing word there). They are also so uneven, I know so many people say that they are sisters and not twins, but mine are barely like third cousins! I do fill in my brows, and I have done a post on it here, in that post i used a brow gel to set my brows but I find during the day my eyebrows move about and flick up at the ends and just don't stay in shape at all! I have tried various cheaper brow gels and none of them do it for me! I know Illamasqua do an amazing one that apparently keeps them in place like no other, but i can't justify spending that much money on a brow gel when i know something basically for FREE could do pretty much the same job!
So what have I been using?!
spoolie brush | hairspray
Yes, it's just hairspray and a spoolie (not the actual pencil, i just don't own any other spoolie brushes haha) If you think I'm totally weird and have completely lost it, bear with me as I explain what to do!
1. Fill in your brows as normal (unless you have amazing eyebrows then i envy you so much!)
2. Spray the hairspray onto the spoolie
3. Comb through your brows and set them to how you want them!
It really is that easy, and it's so effective! Many of you may have already heard of this method or something similar but I just thought I'd share this with you. I know some people liked to use hairspray all over their face to set their make up instead of buying a setting spray, however I'm not really a fan of doing that because it makes my face feel tight and weird, but this doesn't! If you use hairspray on your hair, then this method is pretty much completely free because you're using a product that you've already got! and if you do fill in your brow, many eye brow pencils have spoolies on the end so you can just use one of those, like I did! This tip really works, and makes my eyebrow pencil or powder last all day, and they don't flick up at the ends, and make me feel as though I am one step closer to having Cara Delevingne's brows (I wish!!)
Thank you for reading, if you try out this tip let me know if it works for you!
hey guys! so you may have seen in my recent haul that i had bought my first ever topshop make up product! i had a tough time deciding which product i was going to get because i had heard so many good things about pretty much anything, but for me it was between the lipsticks and the cream blushes, and also the 'glow' highlighter which i have been wanted for SO long but I already have benefit's high beam so I thought that I'd buy the topshop highlighter after I've used up all of the benefit one! so in the end i went for the cream blush in head over heels because I don't own many cream blushes and I think they look a bit more natural than the traditional powder blushes, and i also like the dewy look, especially in summer, and i think cream blushes make my skin look really dewy and glowy!
I took the picture and swatch when i first bought it as my other cream blushes have gotten pretty messy, and it's kind of embarrassing haha. i've been using this blush for a couple of weeks now and have been wearing it pretty much everyday! it's a gorgeous coral colour - perfect for spring/summer! It's almost a cream-to-powder finish but more creamy, if that makes sense? i know many people like to use the real techniques stippling brush with cream blushes, but unfortunately i don't have it (is this an excuse to buy it? i think so) so i just dot it on and blend it out with my fingers which gives a gorgeous glow and flush of colour! I dot in quite high up and not too close to the center of my face, so it gives it a bit of shape and structure, otherwise i look a tad like a clown, which I'm sure you all know is not a good look! When I first used this blush I used a bit too much but it blended in so easily which is really helpful when getting used to how much to use! I'm really surprised about how much I like this blush as i've never been a big blush gal but i love this one, and although being a cream product, it lasts pretty well on my combo skin, almost all day!
Overall, i love this blush and will definitely buying some more of Topshop's make up when I'm next there, anyone have any suggestions?
more things that i need want for summer! i love the pinafore from riverisland, and have been seeing so many bloggers wearing them and they look amazing, not too sure i could pull it off though - i may end up looking like an overgrown 5 year old ha. the revlon lipstick is perfect for summer and a gorgeous coral, and it's matte so will hopefully last all day! I actually tried on the mom jeans from topshop the other day when i was in there and i kind of liked how they looked on me - but i have no idea what shoes to wear with them, anyone has any suggestions? the flatforms, also from topshop, are so cute and i think will look great with a (fake) tan! and also add a bit of height because i am so short! The vichy dermablend foundation is something ive seen floating around youtube/blogger and i really want to try it out, apparently it has really good coverage which is something i look for in a foundation!
So that is all for my wishlist, what things are you lusting over for summer?
Thank goodness it's friday, this week has gone so slowly for me but it still feels as though the months are flying by! I know i might be a bit late to say this, but i cannot believe it is may already! where is the year going, seriously?! anyway, today is a nail of the day/review of my new favourite nail polish!
Yes, it's models own utopia, raved about on llymlrs' blog, which is why i went to get it! i featured it in a recent haul, and since then i have been loving wearing it! it is a cross between an off white nude and a pastel lilac, it's so gorgeous! As with the majority of the other models own polishes, the formula is lovely and thick and completely opaque with 2 coats! this doesn't need a top coat, but out of routine and habit i did! i don't have many nude colours in my nail polish collection, but i really like the way it looks on my nails and especially with a tan i think it will look really nice! i'm thinking of getting some more nudes, do you have any suggestions, maybe essie fiji?
Thanks for reading, hope you all have a good weekend!
Okay, so if you have seen my previous ootd posts you have probably noticed that i do like doing the mirror effect thingy, so please excuse that if you don't like it. So today's outfit is really casual and comfy, and great for going from spring to summer! I bought these leggings a few days ago from missguided.co.uk, a COMPLETE impulse buy when i saw they had free delivery, and i couldn't wait to wear them! my only problem is that they can look a bit odd around the crotch area ha, and also you have to shave your legs before wearing them because the hairs stick out haha! but for only a tenner you can't go wrong really, and i think i will get a lot of use out of them when it's not hot enough to wear shorts in the summer (pretty much all the time in manchester). i have also been wearing this tshirt (featured in my haul) non stop! it's so comfy, and i bought my jacket last summer i think, but they have some really nice ones in primark at the moment!
So that's all from me, I probably should be revising, as I have spanish exams coming up and also my science mocks, but instead i'm eating jelly tots and bloggin' ah yeah
Today i have a review of the bourjois fan-tastic mascara! I bought this mascara a few weeks ago and i thought i'd share my thoughts on it with you all! I will apologise in advance about how photo heavy this post is - the wand of this mascara is so interesting though!
As you can see, this mascara doesn't have your typical mascara wand - it only has bristles on one side which is what i found so intriguing but it was also what made me quite skeptical about this mascara! it has a plastic wand, and unlike some other mascaras with plastic wands it doesn't scratch or irritate the eyes at all! I find that length and volume is quickly built up with this mascara but i find it can be a tad clumpy but for me it's not a problem as i kind of like that look, but if they go too clumpy a good separating mascara will sort it out in no time!
Whilst we've been having good weather for the last few weeks, my hayfever has really been playing up. I keep finding myself sneezing and my eyes watering, which could be why i sometimes find i get black beneath my eyes all the time!
Overall, i really like this mascara and it's interesting wand! I'm really loving bourjois altogether too - i'm so excited for when their cream blush and bronzing primer will be hittin' boots.
