Review // MUA Lipstick in Juicy

Hello Guys!

So today I am going to do a review of MUA's lipstick in shade 15 juicy. I have tried a couple of things from MUA before but I have been very skeptical about trying them because they're so cheap and I wonder if they are good quality or not. So far, the majority of things from MUA live up to my expectations, including this lipstick.

The packaging for the lipstick is quite nice and I like how you can see the colour through the bottom so when you're in a rush you can see exactly what colour you need! The lid also has a very satisfying click when it closes, which is also reassuring to know the lid won't come up in your bag!

As you can see, this lipstick is a gorgeous pinky peach coral colour which isn't something I would usually go for, but being only £1 you can't really go wrong! This the perfect colour for summer for those who want a colourful lip without being too out there! This lipstick lasts a good while but it can transfer onto clothes so you have to be wary about that! Also, you might be able to tell that in the picture it did cling to the dry patches on my lips so be sure to exfoliate and moisturise your lips well before wearing it!

I think MUA are a great brand for people, like me, who want to try out new lipsticks and colours without burning a great big hole in your pocket, and if you don't like it, or it doesn't suit you it doesn't really matter! I really want to try their brow kit and also their brushes that they have!

Have you tried anything from MUA? What are your thoughts?

Hey guys!

I hope you're enjoying the bank holiday, I know I am! Today's post is a face of the day. I haven't done many of these and I can't even remember when the last one was, so it's about time I do another one! I don't know about you, but I love face of the day type posts- I love seeing what make up people are using (or am I just a bit nosey?) Anyway, let's get on with the post, because the sun is finally shining and the skies are blue, I've decided to change round a few bits and pieces in my make up routine to look a bit more natural and fresh faced in the sun! I have also been experimenting with my hair a bit more because I want to try out some more styles, although in the picture my hair is just sort of straight (I straightened it a couple of days ago so it isn't as straight as it was) with this gorgeous head band in! I can't remember where I got this headband from but there is a similar version here. I know primark are doing the Lana Del Rey type which I am dying to get! I usually don't do much with my hair and it's usually wavy and frizzy so I like these types of headbands to give my hair a bit of something different!

Products used:
rimmel stay matte powder

Although a rarity, when it's hot and sunny where I live, I like to go foundation free and just wear concealer, which was a complete NO before I found the collection lasting perfection concealer! There is so much buzz surrounding it on the blogosphere, and I for one have also been hyping it up since I got it last autumn. I put it mainly in the center of my face and then blend it out, and then put a little extra on blemishes. I find this is such a good colour match for my skin, better than any foundation I've tried, and covers so well! For my eyebrows, I didn't want to go too heavy so I used the powder in my ELF eyebrow kit in ash blonde (a supposed dupe for omega by mac) and just lightly filled in my brows. I then used the bourjois fan-tastic mascara (review here) for a bit of definition for my poor blonde eyelashes. Then my rimmel stay matte powder which is AMAZING. It's amazing for summer especially because it prevents my skin from becoming shiny all day! Then to finish, my sleek contour kit to add a bit of shape and warmth to my face, which i lack terribly.

Thank you for reading! Hope you enjoyed!

ps. I changed my blog header the other day, what are your thoughts on it?

five product face!

Hey guys!

Hope you're all having a great start to the 4 day weekend (woo hoo!) First of all, I am so sorry for not blogging as much as I normally do. I have been so busy preparing for my spanish oral, which i have in a couple of weeks, but now i am on half term so i shall be able to post more frequently! I've been seeing these types of posts a lot recently, so i thought i'd show you my version of it!

The make up

Products used

revlon photoready foundation
soap and glory solar powder bronzer
bourjois ultra curl mascara
mac eyebrow pencil in lingering
mua eyeshadow palette in undressed

I used revlon's photoready foundation because it gives quite good coverage but is also really glowy. I then used mac's eyebrow pencil in lingering because i hate not filling in my brows, so this was a must! and pencils also save faffing around with a brush! I then used the bourjois ultra curl mascara as it curls and lengthens my lashes in an instant. Then I used MUA's eyeshadow palette in undressed. I suppose this is kind of cheating using a palette but i did only use the highlight shade on my inner corner, cheek bones, brow bone and down my nose, and then the glittery black to line my top lash line! To add a bit more colour to my skin i dusted soap and glory's bronzer on the high points of my face!

If you've done a post like this i'd love to see it, so please comment with it down below! Also, if you'd like to see any particular posts please tell me!

Thanks for reading, see you in my next post!

l'oreal lumi magique foundation

hey bloggers!

so if you've been into boots recently, you will know there is currently a 2 for £15 off on l'oreal products, which is actually a really good deal! I was in boots buying my sister a new foundation, she uses the l'oreal infallible foundation and when i saw the offer i just couldn't resist. it was a bit of an impulse buy but a while ago i had looked at reviews online and it was the kind of foundation i thought i'd like but never got round to buying it!

this foundations retails for £10.99 and is available from boots/superdrug. it claims to make you appear 'lit from within' which i'm not too sure about, but does give you a really nice glow! i got mine in the shade rose pearl because the way they had laid out the shades i thought that was the lightest one but i have just been on the boots website and i'm now kicking myself because the lightest shade is rose porcelain which looks a lot more like my colour, as this one is a tad too dark for my skin, so i will probably wear it when i've fake tanned/have a real tan (who am i kidding, i don't tan at all!) anyway, this lasts a good while on my skin and doesn't look patchy/cakey. I think this is a medium coverage foundation which is good for those, very rare in my case, good skin days!

i love the packaging of this product, the rose gold pump is gorgeous! i like glass bottles because i feel that they make it feel more expensive and that little bit nicer, however i know some people don't like them because theyre not good for traveling and break easily etc, but personally i'm not too bothered!

would i repurchase?
probably not when it is at full price, although i think if i got a lighter shade i would like it a lot more!

have you tried any products from the l'oreal lumi magique range?

thank you for reading and i shall see you in my next post!

mua undressed eyeshadow palette

Hey guys!

So as you may have seen in my recent haul, i bought the mua eyeshadow palette in undressed and a couple of other nice things! so today, i thought i'd share my opinions on this little beauty!

after recommendations on twitter from georgia at xxxsweetlittlethingsxxx and ashleigh at beauty waterfall (i recommend you go check out their blogs!) i decided to finally go to my local superdrug and get this, as i have not really dabbled in the world of eyeshadow because i've always been a mascara-and-eyeliner-and-off-we-go girl, i thought why not buy this as a little taster! Whilst i was there i also looked for the mua eye brushes but couldn't find any *sob*

anyway, as you can see, it contains 12 eyeshadows and a double ended sponge applicator. The eyshadows are mainly shimmery but there are 2 matte colours, which aren't as pigmented as the other eyeshadows, but for 4 what do you expect? that also goes for the sponge applicator too! i was pleasantly surprised with how pigmented these shadows are! i find the darker colours have a better pay off that the lighter ones, as you will probably see in the swatches down below.

top row - with flash

bottom row - without flash

bottom row - with flash

Sadly, these eyeshadows don't have names, but on the back of the palette they are numbered 1-12. If i had to choose a favourite it would be number 4 because it is so pretty and pink and shimmery!

The only bad thing i have to say about this product would be the packaging is a tad plasticy and feels like it could break at any moment.. but otherwise i love this and would love to buy more mua palettes ( heaven and earth - i've got my eye on you!!!)

thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed! have you tried any mua eyeshadow palettes?

yay or nay: plum mascara

hello my lovelies!

i have been seeing more and more coloured mascaras on the high street recently and wanted to try some out! I bought the collection 2000 collagen curl mascara a while ago by accident because back then i thought all mascaras i picked up were going to be either brown or black.. obviously not ha ha! i was a bit miffed when i got home and realised id picked up a plum mascara instead of black, and never even tried it until i saw sam and nic from pixiwoo mention an aubergine coloured mascara and was intrigued by the whole idea of having different coloured lashes! So i revisited this product and thought i'd try it out again to see if i had changed my mind on the idea!

as you can see, on the wand it doesn't look too plummy, it just looks black, but swatched you can see the plummy-ness of it! I think this is a really nice colour to have as a mascara - its not too outrageous-y or bright, but not the normal black/brown.

So, what does it look like on?

on these pictures, it looks incredibly disappointing and just like normal mascara, which it does in real life too.. UNTIL you catch it in a different light and really get the warmth and deep plummy-ness of it! Ive had many compliments when wearing this, and paired with the right eyeliner/eyeshadow it can look so pretty! and im hoping to try more different coloured mascaras!

so that is my verdict on plum mascaras, what's yours?

thank you for reading,

Olivia

first favourites of 2013

hey guys!
hope you're all well, can you believe we are already a month (more or less) into 2013? i can't! Any way here are my first beauty & non-beauty.

from left to right:
no7 stippling brush
part of set, sadly not available anymore!:(
real techniques buffing brush
boots £21.99
soap and glory bright here bright now instant radiance energy balm (that's a name and a half isn't it!)
boots £11
oilatum natural repair face cream
boots £7.65
benefit bad gal mascara
boots £16.50
mac eyebrow pencil in lingering
  mac £12.50
tweezerman tweezers
boots £19.50
rimmel mono eyeshadow in 244 moonstone
boots £3.99
mini bourjois loose eyeshadow in shade 6
not available - similar from 17 here
favourite skincare

These two products have been my favourite moisturisers to use under my foundation recently. I mentioned the soap and glory brightening balm in my recent haul. It brightens my skin under my foundation, and if im having a good skin day i will just wear this on it's own!
I picked up the oilatum moisturiser when i went into my local boots with high hopes of them stocking the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, which they sadly didn't (cry) so i decided to pick up a bottle of this instead! And i certainly do not regret it!
favourite brushes

The brushes i have found myself reaching for the most this month would have to be my real techniques buffing brush and my no 7 stippling brush, which i got in a set a couple of Christmases ago. The buffing brush has such a variety of uses, from buffing in your foundation to applying highlighter. That said, i actually use the stippling brush to apply my highlighter, as sometimes the buffing brush can be a bit big. but that makes it better for buffing out bronzer/blusher (which i tend to do a lot.) i also love all the other brushes in the core collection.
favourite eye make up

my favourite eye make up for the start of 2013 would have to be my benefit bad gal mascara. It gives my eyelashes length and volume without going over the top, which is good for me seeing as i am at school most of the time! I may do a more in depth review on this with before and after pictures if you'd like to see that? also, my favourite eyeshadows have been rimmel's white eyeshadow and bourjois loose eyeshadow. I prefer the white eyeshadow as a highlight for my inner corner/tear duct area and brow bone! I like the pink, loose eyeshadow to just dust over my lid! So pretty!
favourite eyebrow products
my favourite eyebrow pencil would have to be mac's eyebrow pencil in lingering (full review here) i just love the way it makes my eyebrows look: defined, but not drawn on! round of applause to mac! and with the help of tweezerman's tweezers i get my brows looking nice and groomed! Although these tweezers are expensive, you can get them sharpened for free and they last forever! They are by far the best tweezers i have ever used!
NON BEAUTY FAVES
favourite item of clothing

It was so difficult for me to pick just one item of clothing! but i went for this 'popcorn' jumper from new look that i received for christmas and i can't stop wearing it! it is longer at the back than it is at the front so perfect for wearing with leggings/ thrown over some jeans! Sorry for the dodging photo, ha ha!
favourite music
If you follow me on twitter or instagram you will know i love lana del rey and i'm going to see her in concert in may (eeep!) I have been loving born to die: the paradise edition ever since it came out in november! my mum and my sister both love her too so this is constantly playing in our house, as is the normal born to die cd! ahh i love lana so much!
favourite food

you may think i have a couple of screws loose for posting my favourite food on a beauty blog, but seriously, reeses cups are worth raving about on any type of blog as they as so delicious. In fact, delicious is an understatement! I love them! They are currently on offer for 3 for £1.20 when one pack would usually be 60p.. Bargain! (and i wonder why i haven't got a six pack and legs like a victoria secret angel! haha!)
favourite household-y type item

excuse the extremely vague, not very professional name of this category as i'm not too sure on which category this little beauty would fall in to! I'm also not to sure on how to explain what they are either! The packet they came it didn't give too much away either! They are called Toast Stamps (which you can buy here) and you push them into the bread, remove and then toast! I have the ones that say "LOVE" and "HOT STUFF" and i just think they are sooo cute! I think these work better with a toaster, not the grill!
That is the end of my favourites for the first month of 2013. Hope you enjoyed and have a marvelous weekend , thank you for reading!

kate moss lasting finish lipstick review

Hello guys!
As you may remember, in my last blog post the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 01 was mentioned, so I thought I'd do a whole blog post on it because I love it that much!!

I love this lipstick.
it glides on smoothly, but i have to use a brush with this other wise i look like a clown, and that is not the look i'm going for. It lasts a long time but it's still moisturising and doesn't dry your lips out.
You can even pat it on for a more natural look.
Overall I think this lipstick is amazing, especially for the low price tag (£5.49)and i think i shall be buying more of them.
I hope this has been helpful, don't forget to comment below if you have tried any more, or recommend different shades, or similar ones?
Thank you for reading!

new year resolutions

Hello my lovelies!
Seeing as it's the new year, i thought i'd do my first post of the new year on my New Year Resolutions, beauty/fashion related and non-beauty related.

Beauty Resolutions

001) Take make up off everynight, even if really tired.
002) Create a new and improved skincare routine and stick to it.
003) Wash make up brushes regularly.
004) Discard of old make up (especially mascaras, i just hoard them all in my make up draw and never use them).
005) Try out different make up looks and blog more:)

Non-beauty Resolutions

001) Eat healthier and do more exercise.
002) Pay more attention at school.
003) Start to write a diary and write in it everyday.
004) Meet lana del rey when i see her in concert (i know it's more of an aim, than a resolution but shh).
005) Try to make a really good skirt in textiles at school, despite the fact i am awful at sewing and i knew i should have chosen food tech instead.

So guys, they are my New Year Resolutions for 2013 (2013 GUYS! OH MY, i feel like i am still living in 2010! Where does the time go, ey?)
hope you enjoyed, don't forget to comment with your new year resolutions!

Face Of The Day

Products: Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation, ELF Gel Eyeliner, No7 Intense Volume Mascara and No7 Extreme Length Mascara, My Favourite Burt's Bees lip balm and Benefit High Beam Blush, from a very old palette and sadly I couldn't find it on the internet, but here is a picture of it:
Eyebrows, the darkest shade from a Primark eyebrow kit, which I also used very lightly to contour:
This is a make up look that I wouldn't wear to school, but I'd wear on the weekends if I was going out with my friends or something. Hope you enjoyed reading! What make up are you wearing today?

Products I'm Currently Loving

Over the summer and the past months, I've found these are the products I've been reaching for the most.
Revlon ColourStay foundation here Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Shimmer here Soap & Glory Bronzer here ELF Eyebrow Kit in 'Ash' currently out of stock :( here Real Techniques 'Buffing Brush' part of the Core Collection here EcoTools Bamboo Angled Eyeliner Brush here Bourjois Volume Glam Ultra Curl Mascara here Revlon ColourStay foundation £12.49
Mine is in 110 ivory and this is the best foundation I have used, concerning the colour match to my skin. This colour is very pale and suits my skin very well, despite being a bit pink. I got the one for dry to normal skin, simply because I do have combination skin but it is mainly dry, despite my oily t-zone. I would say this foundation is full coverage, so I usually sheer it out on a day to day basis as it is quite heavy but great for when you need full coverage and for night out make up. The only downside is that there is no pump so it can get a bit messy, other than that I love the glass packaging as it makes it feel a lot more expensive that it actually is. Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch £4.99
I love this because it can be used as either a highlighter or a blush. I got the one in 002 Radiant Rose and it is a lovely pink shade with shimmer. Full review coming soon! Soap & Glory Solar Power Bronzo £11.00
Soap & Glory are a brand pretty much EVERYONE has heard of! It is one of my favourite brands and I love the make up range. This bronzer has 2 shades, a darker colour and a lighter colour. They have slight shimmer, but they are almost matte so great for contouring! The colour pay off is fab, and the colours don't make you look like you've rolled in doritos, so an overall thumbs up from me! Elf Eyebrow Kit £3.75
I've heard that this is a great dupe for omega by MAC, although I do not own omega, they do look pretty similar of what I've seen of it, but I think omega may have a better colour pay off. The powder is great if you are fair and can't find eyebrow products that are cool tones enough! It is true to it's name - ash. It isn't too warm for my eyebrows at all! The darker colour is the gel which is also amazing, but I tend to use the powder more! But I have hit pan on the powder, so I may look into buying omega my MAC or I may repurchase this.. hmm. Real Techniques Buffing Brush (Core Collection £21.99)
POSSIBLY THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER BOUGHT UNDER £25!!! That is not an exaggeration. The buffing brush (if you don't already know)is from the Real Techniques Core Collection by Samantha Chapman (one of the Pixiwoo sisters)and it is amazing. It is dense, it washes well, doesn't shed and is SO soft. I use it for foundation, powder, cream blushers etc.. It is just amazing. EcoTools Bamboo Eyeliner Brush £5.49
Admittedly, I don't use this for eyeliner (unless I'm using eyeshadow as eyeliner) simply because I already have a brush for it. I do, however, use it for my eyebrows, along with the ELF Eyebrow Kit, together they can do wonders.. Bourjois Volume Glam Ultra Curl Mascara £7.99
This mascara makes my eyelashes look voluminous and ultra curly;) I do have mascara phases and this seems to be one of the longest. It isn't too wet or too dry, it's just right. It's amazing. Thank you for reading, what products are you currently loving? Olivia X
